The Ministry of Justice, has In 2023 the House of Commons Justice Select Committee (the Justice Committee) launched an enquiry into the HM Courts & Tribunal Service’s (HMCTS’) probate registry performance, following HMCTS continuing delays in the issue of grants.
This year the UK’s Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Justice has said that following a new management team being installed in the probate registry, as part of a recovery plan to address persistent delays, there has been some improvement to the timescale for the issue of grants by the probate registry which is now an average of 12 weeks.
